Hello. For the past month I have been monitoring the advertised price of a 2022 GMC 2500 3/4 ton diesel from my local dealer Robideaux Motors .
Advertised price MSRP $52,089 and $48,589 with qualifying discounts. I have finally decided to purchase a new truck and upon trying to order the truck the first time (October) I was told by a salesman that he could not honor the price they advertised as for it is not possible and must be a misprint. He also stated that I am amongst many others that have attempted to take advantage of the sale price. Fast-forward to November, when they released their Black Friday add.
Again, the truck is advertised for the same MSRP price of $52,089 & $48,589 with qualifying discounts. 11/26 I called the dealership and spoke with a gentleman regarding the promotion. After reviewing the add with him, He agreed the ad was a great deal and that all I had to do was come down to the dealer and give them a $1,000 dollar deposit to get the truck ordered. 11/27 My wife and I went into the dealership and spoke with a salesman who at first seemed willing to help.
Upon trying to build the advertised truck on the GMC website he showed us it was not possible to order a truck for that dollar amount and expressed his frustration with the company he works for In regard to the false advertising, stating he was not going to go back and forth with me about pricing and that I should just talk to my original salesman Monday. I politely agreed with him that the pricing was confusing and recommended I come back to speak with a manager in regard to the pricing & getting a truck ordered. The salesman refused to give me the name of the general manager, stating he would not talk to me about the unrealistic price, and neither would the owner. I feel that this ad is not only false advertisement by the dealer, but also price baiting to drive customers into the dealership.
If an advertised price cannot be honored by the dealership running the ad than it should not be made public. If published by mistake, it should be removed from the website immediately. This dealership should be held accountable for their actions and stand true to their advertisement, whether it be an honest mistake or not, rather than make excuses for their actions and waste people time. I do not believe that this ad was made by mistake as for it has been ran on multiple platforms and with different Sales event titles.
The dealership states that their website/social media developer is on maternity leave and there for can not make any changes to their ads.
I feel that this is an excuse for their unrealistic advertising, and this situation needs to be resolved immediately. Not only does the ad need removed if it is incorrect, but the dealership should be held accountable for their actions by honoring the advertised price.
