For wordle I start with HOUSE & TRAIN, all the vowels and most common consonants. Sometimes only need one of them before moving on, but predominantly finish within 4.
Yes choice of starting word is critical I think. I use TABLE. HOUSE is a good one though.
I start with ADIEU and have been getting it in 3 or 4 guesses. The only gotcha for me is American spellings.

I start with ALINE

Three vowels is important. ADIEU is a great one.

I tried AUDIO as a start word today, as with ADIEU it gets 4 vowels and the 5th by elimination, and it's not French hehe

Best start word analysis - TRACE or CRATE. This is a followup video (not CRANE)..

There's a similar game - ie, identical - called Wordix, made by a company called People Fun. You can play as many times as you like.

Starting words - RATES, STAIR, RADIO can work well.

I do STAIN, then HORDE, then (if necessary) CLUMP.

There are better first words, but this combo gets a lot of the most common letters.

I went one better and was just one letter out with my second guess but then took another 4 attempts at that missing letter

OK for Easy Mode, but in Hard Mode you have to use any correct letters in the next guess.

Ha I've had one like that. Got in at 6th go but there were several other possible words still to go, fortunately got the right one and passed the day.

Hard mode looks a lot less fun/intelligent. Once you've got four letters you're reduced to just spaffing guesses in.

If i get down to nearly completing the word early. I put I random other words utilising as many other potential letters.
Less risky than trying to solve using near identical words each time
