Yep. Us too in Dorking. I got the bloody paddling pool out for the kids yesterday in anticipation! Yes I know it was wildly optimistic but it was forecast all week!
Pathetic.
I don't need no paddling pool, nature has kindly created a pond on the grass.Pathetic.

Towards Thorpeness this morning. Since then it has clouded over. Though it is warm.
How's the coastal erosion been over winter in Thorpeness Blib? I was sad to see Richard Moores house had to be knocked down, lovely place. Walberswick's dunes are almost completely denuded in parts. It's now mostly only single file on top and in places they've almost been breached.
The beach is now shingle any time other than very low tide.
Southwold's beach has also been inundated with shingle for the most part this winter.
Aldeburgh, Sizewell, Dunwich & Kessingland are unchanged to my eye.
Here's Southwold today. It was so windy this morning that the sea was at an angle. Beautiful sunshine which persists.
(Dog for scale).
(Get Carter, you've got nothing on me. )
High pressure to the south... https://x.com/metoffice/status/1777022995581542496
Hope Colin is okay where ever he might be (didn't know about his alleged NP&E 'activities' as I try to steer clear of all the fun and games over there...)
Anyway, I'm another person who dislikes the heat with a passion. Hope all you sunny types enjoy basking away in the heat, BBQs and dodging bloody wasps... I'll try to keep the negative vibes to a minimum.
Pretty hardcore weather in the Peak District yesterday: fairly cold for the time of year, intense heavy rain at times blown by seriously strong winds - I look a bit sunburnt today as my face was basically sand blasted for several hours.
Excellent weather to walk 12 ish miles in.
I'm no awesome photographer (GetCarter's pics are a major highlights of the weather threads for me) BWTF... near Kinder Scout, yesterday when it wasn't blowing a raging gale:

a couple years ago maybe i could go for a bit of that’
Goes to show how fking long it’s been since it’s been even remotely nice outside because when I slap myself I remember how miserable it was!

I blagged a couple of days off work when the forecast was confirmed, packed my car sharpish and drove to near Land's End (Pendeen for those who know the area) as it was 'only' supposed to get up to 22 c ish there.
Sitting outside a pub with Ms Faust (she also hates the heat) in the evening and I had to put a fleece on as it was a bit cold. Excellent stuff. Sadly, the forecast was not accurate and it got up to the mid 30s C the next day. Not good weather to walk 13 miles or so along the coast path. Had a few pints that night to re-hydrate, believe me.
I suppose if you're on holiday and chilling by the pool then high temps are all fine and dandy... but if you have to work in it? Not so much.
I've got a mate who is a roofer (ex Para so pretty tough)... he said his job was basically unbearable in those temps.

I missed the 40 degrees as I was enjoying 36 degrees in Corfu
Yeah me too, I was in Montenegro at 33 deg C! Came home the next week to find some plants in my garden utterly burnt back from having been in the full sun. 3 rhododendron plants killed stone dead.Gassing Station | The Lounge | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
